More than 1,000 people attended the gala and helped raise $258,000 for Ark Trust, whose mission is to increase public awareness of animal rights. The event was hosted by actress Catherine Bell and Montel Williams. Celebrity presenters included Dyan Cannon, Robert Guillaume, Tia Carrere, Joan Van Ark, Frances Fisher, Kevin Nealon, Linda Blair, Tippi l-iedren, Sheryl Lee and Gordon Clapp. Designer Oleg Cassini was the guest of honor for his creation of Evolutionary Fur, which has the same look and feel as real fur. Actress Susan Sullivan and former Miss USA Ali Landry modeled some of his "furs." The awards will air on the Animal Planet cable channel next month.
